I’m not a conspiracy theorist generally, although I love a good mystery I’d admit. (It runs in the family and my younger brother is a well accepted Aussie author with a number of novels in this area – look up G M Hague, and if you find what I think is his best, “Ghost Beyond Earth” and see the drawing of the ISS in the first few pages, I did that).
Anyway, one of the clips of footage of the apparent assassination attempt of the Orange Oaf over the last few days is apparently AI generated. Y’see, one of the original people shown in the clip miraculously turns from a pizza delivery person with a stack of boxes in their arms into a secret service agent (an oxymoron if there ever was one) with a gun, after walking through a pillar.
Cop that Superman!
But whether this is false or simply farcical; the fact that these sort of manipulations can be done is a little scary I have to say.
The latest season of the long running BBC TV series “Silent Witness” uses the subject as a foil in a way that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, showing what is possible in a nefarious and nasty way.
Even more frightening, is the series “The Capture” where entire scenarios are changed using AI and London’s famous CCTV network to make things appear as they certainly are not.
At a sub-government level to make things worse.
And you know what? A reasonably smart person could do this from home with the tools that are easily available.
If this area interests you, both of these are worth a look and can be seen on BritBox.
