There is no easy way to say this. Buying a newer and “better” drone, GoPro, camera or videocamera will NOT make you a better photographer / videographer.
This is a marketing ploy particularly adopted by phone manufacturers. So many folk buy the next generation iPhone or Samsung smartphone on the promise it has an “even better camera”. Then stick it on ‘A’ for automatic and never go any further.
I have spoken to many, who when you mention the basic terms of ISO, aperture, shutter speed or focus look at you with a blank stare.
The lesson is simple; without understanding the basics of photography like these and adding depth of field, composition and lighting (and audio if for video), you will never be any more than a happy snapper. And buying a bigger and better whatever will not change that.
“But the pros use the best there is to get awesome photos“.
Yes,yes they do, as a camera from manufacturers such as Fujifilm, Canon, Sony and Panasonic allow them more manual control to get them the ‘look’ they want. But equally, you give a pro a basic camera and he / shee will STILL be able to get brilliant shots.
I suppose I could write a “Photography for Dummies” thing, and some day I might just do that, but at the moment there is no point re-inventing the wheel when there are lots of websites explaning and showing the basics. Here’s one I found earlier – https://photographylife.com/photography-basics.
So my suggestion? If you are tempted to buy the new models of whatever are proliferating at the moment, thinking they are a short cut to photography brilliance, keep your cash in your pocket and go back to the basics first. I suspect once you have done that, and understand them (which means practice, practice, practice) what you can produce with what you have will astound you!
