The recent stories I have published on drones, licencing and regulation requirements, and of course how and when you can make a dollar out of the hobby caused quite some interest.
Many enquired as to where jobs in the real world existed that could use the skill of a registered and licenced drone operator.
I wondered this too.
There is the obvious of course; on farms to keep track of livestock or remotely check on watering and feeding system, inspection of power lines springs to mind, and things like shark spotting and surf lifesaving operations we are all familiar with. And there is a growing use of drones for delivery or things like fast food, coffee and even prescriptions.
But I remember when I interviewed Mahmood Hussein from Global Drone Solutions, him mentioning their clientele included government departments, mining companies, emergency services and the construction sector. Looking again at their website, indeed many of the 250 or so 5 Star positive reviews are from people in those very industries.
So, out of interest I got back in touch with the company. And I found out that what could have turned into a long-ish conversation about drone usage in industry has been pre-empted with the publication of a book answering just the questions I wanted to ask.
They have given me permission to make it available if anyone is interested, and it can be downloaded here. In it there are nearly 40 pages of information on where drones are being used in everything from Agriculture to Weather – and all things alphabetically in between.
Additionally, Global Drone Solutions has kindly offered Creative Content readers and subscribers a 5% discount on any of the courses either taken in-house or online.
This means for example you can get your RePL for as low as $1420 for an online course or $2655 for the inhouse 5-day course. Simply email the company and mention Creative Content in your enquiry. There is a brochure on the courses too available here.
