If you fly a drone and are of the opinion that you’ll get away with breaking any CASA rules, a case today in South Australia should make you stop and think for a second.
A man – admittedly a convicted drug trafficker – has been fined over $16,000 for flying too close to people, and at night.
The ABC says the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions told the court that Cairns flew the drone over Conroe Heights, Mount Gambier on January 12, 17 and 19, 2022.
But although there was an inference, there was no direct proof the drone was actually used to traffic drugs.
X after initially refusing to pay a much smaller aviation infringement notice issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
