I’d like to pose a question. But to preface it, I refer m’learned friends to a piece I wrote a while back when Apple suggested the iPhone was truly a “professional camera”. A side-by-side comparison with a little Sony RX0 MkII showed this was not the case, at least technically.
Nor did it match an $899 Panasonic VX1 or even a DJI Action Cam.
You can see that story here.
But let me ask you, my readers. And expand and twist the question a little.
Does it actually matter WHAT you use to make a film today?
There are smartphones, camcorders, mirrorless and dSLR cameras, compacts, action cameras such as GoPros and even drones.
So, with access to all these, and easy availability to very smart digital editing tools, what do YOU consider makes a film “professional”? And by “professional”, I mean one that will make money in this circumstance.
And anyway, is making money even important come to think of it? (But if you have crowdsourced $, surely it is as they expect a return yes?)
Please let us all know how you would go about it. And your thoughts.
