RØDE has launched the DS3, that it says is the next generation of its professional desktop studio arm. Building on the DS2, it offers greater load capacity, flexible positioning and enhanced stability.
The headline upgrade is payload capacity, with the DS3 supporting up to 1.5kg – from broadcast-grade XLR microphones like RØDE’s PodMic to other large-diaphragm microphones, cameras, lights and accessories.
A precision-engineered ball head enables near-silent repositioning while recording, while a single-motion central lock securely holds the angle once set.
Like its predecessor, the DS3 skips the traditional desk clamp in favour of a weighted base, allowing it to sit anywhere on a flat surface. The base has been redesigned for greater stability under heavier loads while remaining compact, while also featuring a dedicated acoustic isolation pad.
DS3 ships with 3/8″, 1/4″ and 5/8″ thread adaptors for out-of-the-box compatibility with microphones, cameras, lights and other accessories.
It sells for USD$109 which is around AUD$150 or so RØDE says it is shiping now worldwide. More info at https://rode.com/products/ds3
