Back in November you may remember I waxed lyrical about the Sennheiser Profile Wireless Kit. Today Sennheiser released a new major upgrade to this gear and announced a sibling product at the same time.
In short, they have added 32-bit float recording, a bit of a game-changing feature that lets creators capture super clear audio, even in tricky situations like sudden loud noises or quiet speech. Technically, this will allow creators to record with extremely high dynamic range and help them to recover clipped audio.
The original Profile Wireless came with a two mic system, but Sennheiser says that demand has caused them to additionally release a single mic version.
Just like the two-channel version, the solo system is quick and easy to set up – no app required. It can be used on cameras, with smartphones and computers, and can be combined with an external lavaliere microphone or even used to create a wireless boom. The mic has an operating time of up to seven hours, and 16 GB of memory for up to 30 hours of internal recording.
The Profile Wireless 1-channel mic retails at AUD $369 (MSRP) and the original dual mic for AUD$549. For mine, it is still the most versatile mic system on the market and highly recommended.
