These days I am a Fujifilm and Blackmagic kinda guy – except when it come to my motorsport when the Canon 5D rules the roost.
But I do remember the glory days; my Dad had a pair of Leica M2s I inherited when he passed away along with a Rolliecord and Rollieflex – until the bastards in the gummint took ’em in lieu of death duties that is.
And a better camera than the M2 I do not think I have ever used.
I was reminded of this today as I received notification that announce the Leica Q3 camera is now fully compatible with select RØDE mics via USB which is a feather in the cap for the Aussie company. Apparently the Q3 is the first mirrorless camera to offer full USB audio hosting and it currently only supports the RODE models Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO, VideoMic GO II and the VideoMic NTG – although I am sure other brands like Sennheiser, likewise a German company, will be scrabbling to catch up.
