According to my sources, trying to get a DJI Neo from the normal retail outlets is a bit on the hard side as stock is hard to come by. When I asked a representative of the distributor here in Australia how sales were going, he said they were going well, but would be better if they could get stock!
Well, demand may be even higher shortly as DJI just announced they have increased the range of Neo “packages” available.
At product launch were the base DJI Neo drone with a single battery where your smartphone became the controller and viewer at $299. You could add to this with the “Fly More” combo which included an RC-N3 controller and three batteries and a charging station. That cost $539.
Now there is also the “Motion Fly More” combo. The RC-N3 controller is replaced with a Motion Controller joystick, you get the Goggles N3 for POV (point of view) viewing and a two way charging hub for $839.
Note however in Australia, technically flying a drone with googles outside is not within the scope of the CASA rules, so buyer beware.
(But I admit it does bring a whole new experience to the fling a drone thing! I am not advocating breaking any laws here, but do make sure you have a “spotter” with you at all times when using goggles).
