CapCut might be (mostly) free, but there is now a BIG catch.

CapCut

One of the most popular programs used by TikTok creators, drone flyers and GoPro and other action camera shooters is CapCut. It is easy to use, quite featured for most purposes and available on mobile, desktop and online.

The base app is free to use, but if you want the premium features, you can pay up to USD$10 / month.

But it has come to my attention that recently, they sneaked a little addition into their terms and Conditions that might make a lot of people decide to switch programs (for which I’d recommend Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve which has more features than CapCut can dream of and is totally free).

You see, CapCut’s owner have quietly updated their terms to say they now permanently have rights to your content. Yep, they can now do whatever they want with the stuff YOU create.

The fine print actually states “… you hereby grant… a perpetual, worldwide licence to use, modify, adapt, edit, reproduce, make derivative works of…” which is legalese for saying we can take your video for them to use in anything, even commercial stuff like adverts.

So, if YOUR content matters to you, you might want to consider your reliance on CapCut I’d suggest.
