Blackmagic Design today released Blackmagic Camera for Android 1.5.
This update adds support for live syncing of media to Blackmagic Cloud and into the bin of all DaVinci Resolve workstations that share the project. The media appears live, even while the camera is still recording, meaning you can start cutting and color grading seconds after footage has been recorded, from any location globally.
The update also adds support for Italian so you can easily switch all on screen overlays, setup menus and monitoring information to Italian. This makes it easy to share your device with other crew when traveling to locations worldwide as you can just go into the menu and change to any of the 8 supported languages, including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and now Italian.
Blackmagic Camera for Android 1.5 also adds support for Tilta Nucleus II wireless remote lens control providing hands free control for zoom and focus when your physical camera is not within reach.
In addition, there is support for new phones, including Oppo Find X8, X8 Pro and the Redmi Note 13 series.
I have been playing with the previous version on a loaned Samsung S24FE, and I am impressed. Sure, it ain’t no Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (which I also own) but by golly it does a hell of a good job emulating it!
If you are a BMPCC owner and also have a suitable Android phone, I’d recommend having a look. Users can download now from Google Play, free of charge, at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details. The list of supported smartphones is here.
