The company’s roots date back to 1973 when it established a joint venture in Melbourne focused on the photocopier business. In celebration of the milestone, Canon is reflecting on some of its key technology innovations in the last 50 years:

  • Over the last 50 years, Canon has delivered products, services and solutions across a broad spectrum of industries in the world of photography and printing.
  • In 1979, Canon developed the world’s first semi-conductor laser printer.
  • In 1985, Canon introduced the Canon BJ-80, the world’s first inkjet printer employing Bubble Jet technology.
  • In 2006, Canon’s introduced the Océ VarioPrint series and the imagePRESS line.

Canon Oceania will further leverage its technological capabilities, brand and customer base in the region as it strives to provide solutions that advance the way people live and work in the future. This vision is founded on Canon’s long-standing corporate philosophy, Kyosei, which describes the concept of harmonious co-existence between people, society, and nature.
