I haven’t seen the GoPro Mission 1 ILS version yet – that is, the one that has a lens mount letting you attach 4/3rds lenses (also known as MFT lenses). The body still has the 1” 50MP sensor as in the standard Mission 1 and uses the GoPro GP3 processor allowing you to shoot at 8K60, 4K240 and 1440p480. There are also Open Gate modes up to 8K30 and 4K120 using the full sensor.
But there is a bit of a catch,
Many people who use GoPros, or indeed even mirrorless or dSLR cameras, tend to put them on “A” for automatic and just press the shutter release to take a photo or start recording video, letting the electronic magic built into the lenses (and camera) worry about such things as aperture and auto focus.
Not with the Mission 1 and MFT lenses you’re not.
Y’see, there are no electronic contacts on the camera to send or receive signals from that lens wizardry, so the operator will have to work out aperture and focus settings themselves.
Ooh scary!

What will help though, apparently there is coming a new iOS and iPadiOS app that turns an iPhone or iPad into an external monitor, giving you access to focus peaking, focus assist, zebra pattern exposure warnings, real-time LUT preview for GP-Log2 footage, customizable shot overlays and remote start/stop control.
There has been no info on an Android version though (yet).
Elsewhere in the known Universe, the GoPro Mission 1 Pro ILS is being released on Sep 2nd, but I have had no confirmation on an Aussie date as yet and will let you know as soon as I know.
