I generally take leaks of new products with a bit of grain of salt, especially when we know damn well they are coming soon anyway. But if the flight time of the new DJI Mini 5 is to be believed, then then the company has had a serious leap in battery technology.
It wasn’t that long ago a flight time of around 18 mins max was the norm, but from someone called @KietN7650it suggests this new DJI Mini 5 Pro will stay in the air for over 50 minutes with the use of the Flight Battery Plus pack, which to be fair, will take the Mini 5 Pro over the “magic” 250g number and the 249 stated weight is for the standard battery.
They have also published a claimed photo of the Mini 5 Pro and controller plus packaging as shown.
Additionally, obstacle avoidance is said to be 360° LiDAR, there will be a 1″ CMOS sensor for the camera (4K at 120fps and a 48mm crop mode no less, plus 225° rotation functionality) and ActiveTrack for cyclists and vehicles as well as runners / walkers etc.
As per the norm, the Fly More Combo – which in all the ranges is the only one to get really – will have the RC2 controller with the LCD screen. Once you have one, you will NEVER go back to using a smartphone as a viewport / controller.
DJI is notorious at keeping its cards close to its chest when it comes to new releases, so I will believe all these specs once I have them from the official horse’s mouth, but nonetheless, it sounds interesting.
