Throwing more tech at tech? There is a better way.

While driving back from a small beach fishing session this morning, I had the radio on, and being broadcast was a “Tech” show on Radio National. They were talking about what the host called Brain Rot, apparently a term coined to describe the overload of info from internet connected apps, primarily smartphones.

The host mentioned that she used an app to block such things as emails, texts and so on if she wanted to be isolated from them at certain times or when in certain places.

I understand your ideas on this may differ to mine, but I don’t quite follow why you need an app to stop another app? Why not just turn the first one off? Using even more tech seems like a long way around doing things to me.

But it got me thinking; how many times have we tried to solve a problem by throwing even more tech at it rather than working out a way of doing something a different or smarter way to get the wanted results?

The perfect example is buying an even more expensive camera to get, supposedly, better pictures or video, as against furthering your understanding of the science of photography or videography. And bettering your knowledge of how your existing camera works?

Or using AI to generate images when you have a perfectly good copy of Photoshop or similar on your HDD – why not learn more about how to use Photoshop?

There are countless more examples I could cite, but you get the idea. A good start is to bone up again on a product’s manual, and there are multitudes of YouTube and other tutorials on the web covering anything from Aardvark Husbandry to Understanding Zygotes.

I have done a few myself at CC-TV ( https://cre-8.com.au/elementor-8454/) if you are interested. They cover from  learning editing with DaVinci Resolve to Drone flying, and GoPro Usage to Learning about Gimbals – with much more besides..
