This is nothing directly to do with video, photography or 3D or any other discipline I normally would write about.
It’s a question I do not know the answer to, so please help me out here.
When did a product suddenly get some sort of, oh I dunno, sentience about it? We see and hear it every day.
I think Apple was the first to start this trait (what other company else would it be?).
Yes, when did “the iPhone suddenly become just “iPhone”, as in “iPhone will have the following new features …”
I saw it again today when I wrote the piece up on the latest studio arm from RØDE, where the press release heading says “RØDE Launches LPA-1”.
I know its perhaps a little pedantic on my part; I’ll live with that, but it still grates me, making a product into a proper noun just seems wrong.
It’s even worse than the internal capitalisation of words as in VisiCalc, PowerPoint, or – and here’s our old friends at Apple again – AirPods, FaceTime, AirDrop, GarageBand… Ugh!!
