A few weeks back I told you about a new drone about to hit the market that looked very interesting called the “HoverAir”. It’s a bit of a cross between a DJI Pocket 4 and a DJI Flip and was being funded via Indiegogo.
I did email the company about a review unit, but to date have had no response.
Anyway, last week the drone was launched into the marketplace in the United States with the company proudly saying there, at least, it had something DJI didn’t have – FCC approval. That alone, in theory at least, was worth millions in potential sales. DJI has not been able to sell its latest drones in the US since 2025. Apparently Trumpty Dumpty thinks they allow the Chinese government to spy on US citizens, a claim DJI vehemently denies.
Oops. HoverAir’s hopes of having that key advantage in terms of market access has been gazumped. The FCC has said that “certification for this device was granted erroneously and has been set aside by the FCC and removed from our public database“.
Oh well, there is the rest of the world I suppose.
