Belkin’s wireless mic kit is a first for the company and comes only as a part of the Belkin Creator Kit for Content; that is you cannot buy it stand alone. So, you also get a basic aluminium tripod suitable for devices up to about 2Kg and a magnetic phone mount as well as the necessary USB-C cables.
It will set you back around AUD$199.
I’ll mainly concentrate on the wireless kit in this review as, let’s face it, there is nothing too exciting about a tripod and adjustable phone mount. Both of those do what they say on the tin.
Belkin Wireless Mic
As is standard fare these days, the Belkin Wireless Mic has two lapel mics that out of the box are designed to be attached to clothing magnetically. What looks like an afterthought though are two traditional spring-loaded clips that are also attached magnetically to the circular mics but are not stowed in the case but tacked to the outside of it.
One thing that did trick me initially is that the charging pints on the mics are tiny, and initially covered by equally tiny, teeny stickers that need to be removed before the mics will charge.
Audio is a respectable 24 bit / 48kHz and Belkin are claiming up to 36 hours on airtime with the charging case.
Primarily, this setup is designed to be used with a USB-C based smartphone or tablet as you do not get any other adaptor type included, but at a pinch for example, you could use it with something like a RØDECaster Pro II which supports USB-C, just don’t expect the quality a Sennheiser Profile or similar will give you.
For the occasional podcaster or vlogger, the Belkin Wireless Mic is quite suitable, and the inclusion in the whole kit of the tripod and phone mounts give you a neat and lightweight portable system.
