New from Apple is the Apple Creator Studio, a new subscription offering giving subscribers access to a suite of Apple’s professional creative apps under a single monthly or yearly subscription.
Think Adobe’s Creative Cloud but from Apple instead.
Apple says it’s designed for “content creators” which I presume by the included packages includes video editors, musicians, designers, and so on.
- Final Cut Pro – Professional video editing (Mac & iPad)
- Logic Pro – Full music production suite (Mac & iPad)
- Pixelmator Pro – Image editing and design (Mac & iPad)
- Motion – Motion graphics & visual effects (Mac)
- Compressor – Media encoding & export tools (Mac)
- MainStage – Live performance audio tool (Mac)
Additionally, the subscription also unlocks so-called premium AI-enhanced features and content in Apple’s free productivity apps, Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and later Freeform.
Australian pricing is said to be around AUD$20 a month or AUD$200 per year for standard subscriptions and there are discounts available for educational users and students.
Unlike Adobe, you apparently will still be able to outright purchase any single app.
The system starts on Jan 28th. It will be interesting to see the take-up as this is a damn sight cheaper than Adobe’s offering, but having said that, as many of Adobe’s users are well rusted on professionals, will they change lanes quite so quickly for these sorts of savings as against staying with the tools they know and are committed to long term?
Only time will tell.
