If you are wondering at the distinct lack of Australian reviews of the new GoPro MAX 2 360° camera, or indeed the company’s new gimbal, let me fill you in.
Until about August of this year, the PR side of GoPro in this country was handled by Sydney based PR company ThrivePR, and whilst review product was always difficult to get, mainly as they couldn’t get it to disperse it relevant reviewers, it was always eventually forthcoming.
However, in August (or thereabouts), GoPro decided it no longer wanted any representation here, and ThrivePR lost the account. One assumes that GoPro was going to do it all in-house from the United States of Americaland.
But despite numerous emails, form applications and even support requests and any other way I can think of to contact the company, the silence has been deafening.
I did manage to speak to their distributor, Gold Coast based All Interactive, but even they have not been able to raise a peep in terms of PR contact.
It’s all very strange and does not seem to bode well for their Australian customers – present or future. I mean, if the support folk are also not getting back, what faith can you have if something goes wrong?
In the interim, I’ll keep trying, but frankly, my advice right now if you want an action camera or 360° camera, I’d be looking at models from DJI.
