Back in November I banged on about the Sennheiser Profile Wireless Kit. This is a two mic wireless system that has a multitude of guises depending on how it is configured.
And it is simply brilliant.
In May, the one mic version was released and I have been putting it through its paces.
The Sennheiser Profile 1 mic is not as sophisticated as its bigger sibling, and is primarily designed to be used with smartphones, both iPhone and Android, although with 16GB of memory on board is also suitable for stand alone purposes. Both USB-C and Lightning connectors and cables are included in the package for connectivity, as it a tripod adaptor.
Being USB based of course, it is equally at home with cameras, laptops and other USB-C equipped devices that can record audio.
Recordings are at 32 bit for crystal clear audio, even with sudden loud noises or for quiet speech. The tiny transmitter clips onto a collar and uses a built in lav mic and furry. The transceiver is slightly bigger with a small OLED screen with a swipe-oriented menu system that is easy to follow, if not a bit hard on the eyes until you get familiar with the layout.
Up to 7 hours of battery time is claimed and I got 5 with plenty of juice still in the tank.
I used the Sennheiser Profile 1 mic for a couple of my video tutorials and it has performed flawlessly. At $369 it is not the most inexpensive single mic wireless lav system around, but so far in my testing against other from DJI and Hollyland for example, it certainly has the superior audio and is worth the money if audio quality matters to you which of course it should.
